We depart from Fes and head towards the Middle Atlas Mountains. We pass through Ifrane, often called 'Little Switzerland', and the cedar forests of Azrou where we may see Barbary apes. We continue through the Ziz Valley, known for its palm groves. Upon arrival in Merzouga, we take a camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes to watch the sunset and spend the night in a desert camp.
Wake up early to see the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, we travel to Rissani to visit its traditional market (if open). We then head to the Todra Gorges, a spectacular canyon popular with climbers. We continue to the Dades Valley, where we will have dinner and spend the night.
We drive through the Valley of Roses and Ouarzazate, known as the 'Hollywood of Africa'. We visit the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Finally, we cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka pass, arriving in Marrakech in the evening.
