Itinerary

Day 1Marrakesh – High Atlas Mountains – Ait Benhaddou – Dades Gorges

Your adventure begins with an early departure from Marrakesh as we immediately head into the majestic High Atlas Mountains. The route takes us over the renowned Tizi n’Tichka Pass, where we will pause at elevated viewpoints to capture the breathtaking panoramas of the range. We then descend to visit the ancient fortified village of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site celebrated for its stunning mud-brick architecture and long history as a popular film location.

Following this, we pass through Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Sahara,” often noted for its film studios and historic kasbahs. We continue the drive through the scenic Valley of the Roses, famous for its seasonal blooms and fragrant products. The day concludes in the Dades Valley (or nearby area) with dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Merzouga Sahara Desert (Erg Chebbi)

After breakfast, we depart the Dades Valley and journey toward the desert. Our first major stop is the dramatic Todra Gorge, where the river has carved colossal, sheer canyon walls. You will have time for a walk alongside the river to fully appreciate the impressive scale of this natural wonder.

After lunch, the journey continues eastward, eventually bringing us to the edge of the Merzouga Desert. Here, you will switch your vehicle for a traditional camel trek. Your caravan will traverse the immense golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, timed perfectly to witness a spectacular Saharan sunset. The trek leads you to a traditional desert camp, where you will enjoy dinner, Berber music around the campfire, and an unforgettable night sleeping beneath an intensely starry sky.

Day 3Merzouga Sunrise – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Fes

We start the final day before dawn to experience a magical desert sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast at the camp, you will either ride the camels or take a 4×4 back to Merzouga village to meet your driver. We begin the long but scenic drive north toward Fes.

The route takes us through the lush, palm-filled expanse of the Ziz Valley, featuring stunning oases and panoramic views that contrast sharply with the desert landscape. We continue through the Middle Atlas region, stopping for lunch in the town of Midelt. We will pass through the Cedar Forest (home to the Barbary Macaques) and the charming, “Swiss-style” town of Ifrane. The journey concludes upon arrival in Fes, where you will be dropped off at your accommodation or the airport.
