Guided Tour of Ait Benhaddou: Our initial stop is the ksar (fortified village) of Ait Benhaddou, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. This site holds both historical and cinematic significance, representing centuries of Moroccan earthen architecture. Your guide will share captivating stories about its past and its use in globally recognized films like Gladiator and TV shows such as Game of Thrones.
Ouarzazate: The Desert’s Entrance: The next location is Ouarzazate, famously known as the Door of the Desert. We will pass by the historic Taourirt Kasbah, a huge fortified residence often featured in cinema. We'll also visit the Atlas Film Studio, a movie wonderland where you can explore Morocco’s filmmaking legacy and its influence on contemporary cinema.
Arriving at Dades Valley: We continue from Ouarzazate through the scenic Valley of the Roses. If your trip falls in the springtime, you'll witness millions of Damask roses creating a beautiful pink landscape and filling the air with fragrance. Afterward, we arrive in the Dades Valley, where the day concludes with a traditional dinner and an overnight stay in a local riad.
Exploring the Todra Gorges: We start the second day by traveling from the Dades Valley to the Todra Gorges, one of Morocco’s most striking canyons. You can take a peaceful walk alongside the serene river, framed by soaring limestone walls, which are ideal for photography and climbing.
Journey through Berber Lands to Erfoud: Leaving the gorges, the journey continues through the picturesque Berber settlements of Tinjdad, Jorf, and Erfoud. You will observe the definitive transition of the landscape from fertile valleys to vast deserts as you pass through Erfoud, known as the fossil city, and venture further towards the Sahara.
Camel Trek into the Sahara: Upon reaching Merzouga, our quintessential desert adventure begins. We will mount camels and trek into the towering golden Erg Chebbi dunes. As the sun begins to set, casting dynamic colors across the sand, we will arrive at the remote desert camp.
Evening at Desert Camp: Our desert evening commences with a delicious Berber dinner prepared using time-honored recipes. The night truly comes alive with the rhythm of Berber drums and local music around the campfire, allowing you to absorb the peaceful desert nightlife and the brilliant, star-filled firmament.
Morning in the Merzouga Desert: We begin the final day of our expedition with the spectacular experience of watching the sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes. Following this serene start, we return to the camp for breakfast and prepare for the long journey to Fes.
Journey through Ziz Valley: After departing the desert camp, we arrive at the Ziz Valley. As one of Morocco’s largest oasis valleys, the Ziz Valley features extensive palm groves, ancient kasbahs, and towering cliffs. Be sure to capture photos of this vital agricultural area, featuring the Ziz River and its surrounding oasis life.
Stopping at Midelt: Famous for its fruit orchards, especially apples, Midelt offers a tranquil stop. Situated between the Middle and High Atlas Mountains, it provides a unique landscape encircled by towering peaks and valleys.

On the way, we will pass through the expansive cedar forests of Azrou. Upon arrival in Ifrane, you will see why it earned its nickname with its European-inspired architecture and cooler climate, feeling like a world away from the desert you just left.
